Climate impact

At KoRo, we analyse the greenhouse gas emissions that are produced during the production of our snacks. These include, among other things, CO2, methane and nitrous oxide. Our hard-working sustainability team collects all the information to calculate a value: the so-called CO2 equivalents. Global almond production is led by California, with over 2/3 of global production; buy why? This is probably due to a combination of large cultivation areas, easy mechanical harvest, and comparably low wages. Also, unlike many other parts of the world, water is not a scarce commodity in California. After the USA as the front runner in almond production, we find Spain, Morocco, Iran and Turkey. A total of around 2.2 million tons of almonds are harvested worldwide every year!
