Rhubarb compote: Name and production
“Where does the name come from?” – the compote is often asked on first encounters. In fact, the name comes from the French word 'composte' and means 'mixture', which alludes to the composition of this dish. Compote is fruit cooked with sugar and is often eaten as a dessert or used to sweeten many types of baked goods. There are hardly any limits to the variations here: whether several fruits are combined or whether you prefer to go completely monogamous is up to you. Contrary to the name, our rhubarb compote has German roots. In the factory, the rhubarb is first mixed with sugar, heated and filled into jars. It is then pasteurised, cooled, placed in trays and palletised. The finished compote then makes itself comfortable in its jar until it is finally allowed to move into your home. A relationship where moving in together in a hurry is recommended without hesitation. Monogamy is not for you? Then try the other fruit spreads in the KoRo range: strawberry, sour cherry, mango, apricot and raspberry!
Cooking, backing, snacking – rhubarb as a multi talent

Whether eaten straight from the jar or as a secret ingredient for your latest cake or dessert creations - there are no limits to your creativity! Try your hand at a tasty rhubarb crumble or add a spoonful of the pink deliciousness to your porridge. Your yoghurt could do with a little colour? Whether crumble, compote, cake or jam - rhubarb is an integral part of many sweet dishes. As a result, rhubarb is often spontaneously counted as a fruit. Botanically, however, the rhubarb plant is assigned to the vegetable plants, since we do not eat the rhubarb fruit, but primarily the stem of the plant. Thus, rhubarb also belongs to the stem vegetables, just like asparagus and celery.
