The sweet cherry – a fruity senior
And all that I can see, is just another cherry tree! The sweet cherry is a true primeval among fruit plants. A fruity senior, so to speak. Traces of our present-day sweet cherry are said to have been found in Stone Age settlements. Originally it came from Asia. Nowadays, the sweet cherry tree is also native to Europe, among other places. The harvest time of the sweet cherries extends roughly from the beginning of May (start of the cherry weeks) to the end of July. Our delicious cherries come from Bulgaria. After harvesting, they are pitted, dried, packaged and just waiting to spice up your pantry.
A variety of recipe ideas with sweet cherries
Cherries or sweet cherries can be used in many different ways. When Grandma isn't making a delicious homemade jam or compote from sweet cherries, you can also enjoy them as a fruity topping on muesli, porridge, yoghurt or quark. Our sweet cherries are also a delicious ingredient in muffins, cakes and other baked goods. You can also combine them with nuts – instead of sultanas – or buy a ready-made trail mix and add an extra fruity cherry note. And if you need that next-level cherry treat, soak the dried sweet cherries and turn them into a tangy cherry pesto or make delicious vanilla and almond energy balls. And a little tip for all big cherry fans: you can also make a wonderful liqueur from the dried sweet cherries. By the way, those with a sweet tooth who like it even sweeter should definitely take a look at our aromatic amarena cherries coated in dark chocolate As you can see: ḰoRo is good for eating cherries ;)

Varieties & origins
Sour cherries
Sour cherries, also known as tart cherries, are dark-red and, compared to sweet cherries, more acidic, smaller, and juicier. The different varieties of sour cherries all have in common a mildly sour, tart taste. They are perfect in baked goods and canned. KoRo's sour cherries are dried and sugar-free.
Worldwide, there are over 400 different types of cherry, which can be divided into sweet and sour cherries. In addition, the varieties can also be differentiated based on their maturity - early, medium and late ripening varieties. Turkey and the USA are among the world's largest producers.
