Buy now: Organic couscous 1.5kg

Couscous originally comes from North Africa and is now one of the world's most popular staple foods alongside rice, quinoa, amaranth, and bulgur. Couscous is usually made from grain (usually durum wheat) that is ground into semolina, moistened and then rolled into super tiny balls, which are then pre-cooked with steam and dried in the last step before they are ready for transport. Our brown couscous is made from organic whole wheat semolina. You can use it in a variety of ways as a side dish or main course – stay tuned, because more is coming soon.

Preparing couscous is child's play

Before digging deep into the many ways you can get creative with cous cous, you should know exactly how it is prepared, and trust us: it does not get any easier! Let's start with how much water you need to prepare couscous. We recommend a ratio of couscous to water of 1:1. Boil 250ml of water, or vegetable stock in a pot, together with 1/2 teaspoon of salt (if you want to enjoy it as a savoury dish afterwards) and 1 tablespoon of olive oil. As soon as everything is boiling, take the pot off the hot stove and stir the couscous into the still boiling water, or pour the water over a bowl with cous cous. Then cover everything and let sit for about 3-5 minutes until the couscous has absorbed all the water. And voilà!, your couscous is ready to be used in a variety of delicious dishes.

Couscous shines as a main and side dish alike

Our brown couscous is a great source of protein and scores with its high fibre content. It goes perfectly as a side dish with vegan or vegetarian dishes, but is also a great add-on in combination with chicken or salmon, for example. Couscous also tastes great in combination with a curry, a good portion of falafel, or a colourful vegetable stir-fry. But our wholegrain wheat semolina scores with its delicious taste not only as a nutritious side dish. You can also use it wonderfully as a main course: in addition to hearty dishes such as a feta or lentil salad, couscous patties, and couscous casserole, you can also conjure up sweet treats by refining the couscous with cinnamon, nutsdried fruit, honey or a plant-based alternative such as agave syrup. Chop up a bit of fruit and your sweet couscous bowl is ready for dessert or breakfast. If you need even more inspiration, take a look at our Food journal!

Leckerer Couscous

What can I say. Really tasty couscous that tastes just as delicious in regular preparation as in the "I'm in a hurry" variant. Just pour hot water over it and let it sit.
Top. Just now where the salad season is again more variable and more, you know yes to the barbecue and so... I can absolutely recommend a couscous salad.

Too expensive and bad.

Price OK? No, it costs €1.81 more at Alnatura and it's a top product. Poor quality here, so you didn't save money but paid more. "They say it couldn't be cheaper", and it couldn't be worse.

Worth repeating!

Delicious couscous and not more expensive than supermarket couscous. The extensive information on the website (about origin, shelf life...) convinced me to order. And I will definitely come back!
