We at KoRo love dates with a fervour that words cannot describe. Our love has brought us to visit date farms and reach out to farmers, to look for the crème de la crème. Well, now we can proudly present to you the result of our researches: our very own KoRo Medjool dates from Israel, pampered by the warm Middle Eastern sun, whose incredible taste of caramel will leave you speechless. With a Loose skin rate of less than 15 %, our dates are particularly soft, and the perfect, indulgent snack with an extra portion of fibre.

At KoRo, we analyse the greenhouse gas emissions that are produced during the production of our snacks. These include, among other things, CO2, methane and nitrous oxide. Production
Medjool Datteln wachsen vor allem in Gebieten mit tropischer Hitze heran: Palästina, Jordanien, Marokko und Tunesien sind die Hauptanbaugebiete für die süßen Früchte. Unsere Medjool Datteln haben eine israelische Herkunft.
Die Medjool Dattelpalmen sind besonders hart im Nehmen und lassen sich selbst von Sandstürmen und wochenlangen Hitzeperioden nicht beirren. Dattelpalmen müssen nicht mit wertvollem Süßwasser gegossen werden, sondern geben sich mit Salzwasser zufrieden. Um die Palmen zu pflegen, steigen die Dattel-Bauern auf Kräne in schwindelerregender Höhe: Alles für die karamellig-süße Frucht!
Wer neu in den Medjool Dattel Anbau einsteigen will, braucht erstmal viel Geduld. Erst nach sieben Jahren tragen die Dattelpalmen ihre ersten Früchte. Was lange währt, wird endlich gut: Dattelpalmen tragen dann Früchte bis in ihr 100. Lebensjahr hinein.
Einmal ausgewachsen misst die Dattelpalme bis zu 30 Meter Höhe. Das macht auch die Ernte zu einem komplizierten Verfangen. Der Weg nach oben lohnt sich aber: Eine Palme trägt pro Saison etwa 100 kg Datteln. Und wer einmal eine frische Medjool-Dattel probiert hat, versteht diesen Aufwand.
Nach der Ernte werden die frischen Medjool Datteln zunächst gefroren. Das schont die Haut der Frucht und die Datteln behalten ihre Flüssigkeit und somit die saftige Konsistenz. Anschließend sortieren Dattel-Experten die Früchte nach Qualitätsstufen. Erst nach der Größe – von Medium über Large zu Jumbo – und anschließend nach dem Loose Skin Ratio. Hier ist ein geschultes Auge gefragt.
