Do you want muscles like Popeye but don't feel like eating boxes and boxes of spinach? Don't worry, ask KoRo. We know that lupin might not be the first choice among protein powders. It is less famous than other types of protein powders, despite being a great plant-based source of protein with 40 g of protein for 100 g of flour. So it's about time that our lupin flour got dragged out of the shadows and into the limelight! Say goodbye to artificial protein powder mixes and hello to our vegan lupin flour!

What is lupin flour?

Lupin? No we are not talking about the famous Hogwarts professor that can turn into a werewolf! If you are looking for plant-based sources of protein, you will stumble upon lupin beans sooner or later. Along with chickpeaspeas and kidney beans they also belong to the legume family. The plant has been a part of human nutrition for thousands of years and it's protein has gotten increasingly popular these days, along with organic pea protein, organic rice protein and organic hemp protein. The protein-rich seeds are now used in a wide variety of foods, from ice cream to bread. Our high-quality organic lupin flour is made from 100% lupins and is an excellent alternative to other protein sources such as soy or milk protein.

Protein-packed lupin flour recipes

Our organic lupin flour has a neutral to slightly nutty-sweet taste and can therefore be used wonderfully in protein shakes, so feel free to create your own lupin protein drinks. It is also a great ingredient for your pancakes, breads or desserts. You can use it as an egg substitute and as a binder for soups or baking. Lupin flour is not just rich in protein, but also in versatility! However, consider than, when baking, not more than 20 % of the conventional flour should be replaced with lupin flour if you want to keep the original flavour and consistency. If you want to use it as a vegan egg substitute, simply stir a tablespoon of lupin flour into 30 ml of water and let it swell. Your "lupin egg" is ready.

Good, it takes some practice....

I have yet to learn how to use it properly, the consistency seems similar to chickpea, but the end result is very different...I will practice!
