MCT is short for the medium-chain fatty acid (triglycerides). Our MCT oil is based on pure coconut oil and is made of 100% caprylic acid (C-8). Those fatty acids produce energy from ketones and are therefore an alternative energy supplier to glucose or carbohydrates. But not every MCT fatty acid is effective! You could say that, the more ketones are build, the better – and caprylic acid (C-8) seems to be the most effective one in that sense.

C-8 MCT Oil is perfect to prepare the famous Bulletproof coffee. Just use fresh filtered coffee and refine it with 1-2 tablespoons of our MCT oil. If you are not a fan of coffee you can easily put some C-8 MCT oil in your smoothies or salad dressings or add some to your muesli. Be careful not to use this oil to fry things, because of its low smoke point! As for the recommended dosage, we suggest you start out with one teaspoon per day and never exceed three tablespoons per day.

What does the oil taste like?

The oil is tasteless and odorless despite the base of 100% coconut oil.

What should be considered when taking it?

The body should be slowly accustomed to the MCT oil. Therefore, it is recommended to start with 1 tsp per day. Depending on tolerance, the daily dose can be increased, but should not exceed 3 tbsp per day.

What is the difference to other MCT oils?

There are different medium chain fatty acids (C6, C8, C10, C12). Most MCT oils are blended oils. They often consist of a mixture of coconut and palm oil and a certain ratio of C8 and C10 oils. Depending on the composition, it is more or less effective. We have a high quality pure coconut based C-8 oil.

Is the C-8 oil suitable for frying?

The C8 oil is rather unsuitable for frying, as it has too low a smoke point.

Does the product have side effects?

Our MCT oil is a purely vegetable product. In case of overdose, it can have a laxative effect.
