Buy plant-based drinks as a milk substitute
Plant-based drinks are literally on everyone's lips. And rightly so – for more and more people, they are not just a passing trend, but a long-term substitute for cow's milk. Not only can they be used in a variety of ways, but they also taste delicious – whether for breakfast in cereal, or in coffee and tea – our plant-based drinks won't let you down. So here you go: our plant-based drinks without any additives for those of you who are looking for a milk substitute.
Which milk substitute tastes best?
You probably already know our answer to this question. For us, the oat drink is and remains the favourite. Unlike other milk alternatives, such as almond drink or cashew drink, the oat drink does not have a strong taste of its own, so it can be used in a variety of ways.
Are KoRo plant-based drinks vegan?
Of course our plant-based drinks are vegan. We do not use any animal-based ingredients in our plant-based drinks. But that doesn't mean that our milk alternatives are only suitable for vegans: they have a lot of other advantages. Our oat drink barista edition is naturally lactose-free, gluten-free and even comes without added sugar. Our organic oat drink also contains no added sugar and is lactose-free. As if that weren't enough, all our ingredients are, of course, sourced from organic farming. So if you haven't already started using our oat drinks, you should do so now – we haven't come up with any arguments against them, at least.
Can I make the plant-based drinks myself?
Of course you can make plant-based drinks yourself. But we've done the work for you so you can concentrate on what you can prepare with our plant-based drinks. If you run out of stock – because all your family have once again raided your delicious milk alternative – you can also make oat drink yourself with a little patience. Our organic oat powder for oat drinks is the shortcut to your homemade oat drink. Simply mix 10g of our organic oat powder with 100ml of water and you have your own oat drink in no time.
But if you have a little more time and prefer to experiment in the kitchen, you can of course prepare your oat drink from scratch. All you need for the process are: oat flakes, salt and a blender. For those of you with a sweet tooth, we can also recommend dates for a natural sweetness.
Our oat drinks
We wouldn't be KoRo if we only offered you one oat drink: in addition to the classic, organic oat drink, we also offer a barista edition. The former is ideal for your morning cereal, porridge or granola. The organic oat drink has a mild taste and is therefore very versatile. But our barista oat drink can also keep up: the plant-based alternative to cow's milk can be wonderfully frothed and is therefore particularly good in coffee or hot chocolate, as you may have already guessed. And the best thing is: unlike many other manufacturers, our oat drinks do not need added sugar! They have a pleasant sweetness that comes naturally and we don't need to artificially enhance it.
Recipes with oat drink
If you think that our oat drink is only suitable for muesli or coffee, you should definitely take a look at the recipes on our blog. On the one hand, breakfast dishes such as fluffy spelt pancakes with raspberry sauce or an ocean smoothie bowl can be perfectly refined with our organic oat drink. But the plant-based milk substitute can also be used for cooking and baking: Whether it's in chocolate slices or gluten-free muffins – oat drink does it all.
All your questions about plant-based drinks
We want to give you all the information about our plant-based drinks. If you have questions about a specific product, it's best to check the product specification. If you don't find what you're looking for there, please contact us by email or on social media and we'll be happy to answer all your questions.
Does oat drink have a lot of protein?
Oat drink contains less protein than cow's milk. But that's not a problem, after all, you're not going to live on oat drink alone. How about a homemade muesli mix made from: organic chia seeds, soy protein crispies and organic goji berries? Or would you prefer a protein porridge that, in combination with our oat drink, gives you the perfect creaminess? The question of where to get your proteins in a plant-based diet is almost a rhetorical question by now, isn't it? Legumes, nuts, tofu, quinoa or even vegetables like broccoli won't let you down. To return to the initial question: even though oat drink doesn't have much protein, in our opinion that's no reason not to give this plant-based alternative to cow's milk a try. You can find the exact nutritional information for our oat drink in the product description.
Can you froth up oat milk?
That depends – not every oat drink can be frothed up. But, as you would expect of us, we set ourselves exactly that goal and tested a wide range of oat drinks. Our winner is and remains the oat drink barista version from our shop. This vegan plant-based drink can be easily frothed and is therefore the perfect milk substitute for your coffee. It is important that you shake the oat drink well at the beginning. To froth it, the oat drink should be heated – up to 60 degrees Celsius is ideal. Our tip: froth up the oat drink barista, mix with cocoa powder and sweeten with a little coconut blossom sugar if you like – and hey presto, your delicious cocoa is ready.
What ingredients do the oat drinks contain?
We have carefully selected the ingredients for our two oat drinks for you. Our organic oat drink contains the following ingredients: water, oats, sunflower oil and sea salt. Our oat drink barista contains water, gluten-free oats, sunflower oil and a pinch of salt.
Does oat drink affect digestion?
Our oat drinks consist only of water, (gluten-free) oats, sunflower oil and sea salt. As long as you don't have any allergies or intolerances, you should generally be able to digest these ingredients well. So if you consume oat drink in average quantities, you don't need to worry about it having a laxative effect. However, if you do experience discomfort such as bloating or diarrhoea, it's probably best to avoid our oat drink for now and see a doctor if necessary.
Does oat drink contain gluten?
Yes and no. This statement cannot be generalised, as our organic oat drink, for example, contains gluten. But don't worry – our barista oat drink is gluten-free, yay! We only use gluten-free oats for this. So you can enjoy it even if you have coeliac disease or want to avoid gluten for other reasons.
Can you freeze oat drink?
Of course! This is particularly useful if you have trouble drinking a whole litre of our delicious oat drink by itself before it goes off. Our tip: Freeze the barista oat drink in ice cube trays and add it to your iced coffee on hot summer days.
Can you heat up oat drink?
Of course! We even recommend heating up our barista oat drink to froth it up. The easiest way to do this is, of course, with a special milk frother. But you can also heat the plant-based drink in a pan and then use a hand frother. It is just important that the oat froth does not get too hot. To ensure the best consistency of the froth, you should not heat the oat drink above 60 degrees.
Is oat drink healthy?
What ultimately determines whether a food is healthy or unhealthy is a balanced diet. We don't want to categorise food strictly as ‘healthy’ or ‘unhealthy’. As always, balance is key! Our oat drinks consist of only four natural ingredients. We also don't add any sugar to our oat drink (it contains natural sugar).
